Dr. Apaak lauds Jack Alolome for standing up against racism on flight

Builsa South Member of Parliament (MP), Dr. Clement Abas Apaak, has commended Ghanaian gospel musician Jack Alolome for standing up against racial discrimination after reportedly facing attempts to remove him from an airplane because he is black.
Describing the incident as a “sobering and incredible experience,” in a social media post, Dr. Apaak praised Alolome for refusing to surrender to pressure from individuals allegedly seeking to prevent him from boarding the flight.
“I commend him highly for standing up against the racists who sought to get him off the airplane simply because he is a black man,” Dr. Apaak stated in a Facebook post.
According to the account, Alolome remained firm despite the alleged pressure and persuasion intended to stop him from travelling on the flight.
Dr. Apaak said the musician demonstrated courage by refusing to give in to what was described as racial prejudice, adding that his actions offered important lessons for others who might encounter similar situations.
He further indicated that Alolome recorded a video while on the plane, which was attached to the story, to narrate his experience.
He claimed that the musician was the only passenger on the aircraft and that invoking the name and international reputation of H.E. JDM, alongside threatening legal action against the airline, played a significant role in the situation.
“As he narrated in the video clip he recorded on the plane, on which he was the only passenger, but for invoking the name of H.E. JDM and following up with a threat to sue the airline, he would have been dropped from the flight,” Dr. Apaak said.
Dr. Apaak praised Alolome for standing his ground and using the options available to him to challenge the alleged treatment.
“We can all draw inspiration from his brave stand,” Dr. Apaak stated, outlining two major lessons from the experience.
“First, never yield to racists and bullies,” he said.
“Second, it helps to be a citizen of a country whose President stands tall in the community of nations,” he added.
