Dr. Clement Apaak celebrates father’s legacy of faith

Deputy Minister for Education, Dr. Clement Abas Apaak, says his late father, Pastor John Azundem Apaak, lived a life defined by simplicity, compassion, and unwavering commitment to God and humanity.

The Deputy Education Minister paid glowing tribute to his father during the thanksgiving service, describing him as a man whose name was “abound for good reason” because of his readiness to associate with and support anyone in need within his means.

“Our father was simple and willing to fraternise with everyone. He supported anyone who needed help and that he had the capacity to support,” he said, adding, “That is our father and we are very proud of him. We are proud of the life he lived.”

Dr. Apaak also reflected on his father’s spiritual journey, attributing it largely to the influence of his late mother. “We are proud that he gave his life to God, largely through the influence of our dear mother. But for her, our father wouldn’t have known God,” he noted.

He described his father as “a lucky man” for marrying a woman of substance who refused to allow neglect or misfortune to define her life or family.

The thanksgiving service, held at the Deeper Life Bible Church at Sawaba in Bolgatanga, marked the final activity of the funeral rites and drew family members, church leaders, public officials and sympathisers from across the country.

In a message on social media after the event, Dr Apaak expressed appreciation to sympathisers who supported the family during the burial and thanksgiving services.

“Thank you for joining us to mourn our late father, Pastor John Azundem Apaak. We appreciate your time, support, assistance, and prayers,” Dr. Apaak wrote on his official Facebook page after the thanksgiving service on Sunday

Founder of the Pneuma Institute and President of Eastwood Anaba Ministries, Pastor Eastwood Anaba, described the Apaak family as a symbol of hope for the Upper East Region and spoke of the enduring legacy left by the late pastor.

In recognition of Pastor Apaak’s contribution to Christian education and teaching, the Deeper Life Bible Church announced plans to construct a learning centre in Bolgatanga to be named after him, describing him as a passionate preacher of the Word of God.

The burial and thanksgiving services were attended by the Minister for Education, Haruna Iddrisu; Upper East Regional Minister, Donatus Cletus Atanga; Members of Parliament, traditional leaders, senior clergy and other dignitaries.

Pastor John Azundem Apaak was later laid to rest at the family house in Dorninga in the Builsa South District, as the family expressed gratitude for the overwhelming support received.
