Ghana Law Society to champion development, welfare of lawyers – Anatu Bogobiri Esq

The Ghana Law Society (GLS) is positioning itself as a professional body committed to advancing the development, interests and welfare of lawyers within Ghana’s legal ecosystem.
This was highlighted at the Society’s maiden Annual Conference held at the La Palm Royal Beach Hotel in Accra, where the GLS also unveiled its official logo.
The event brought together senior government officials, legal practitioners, academics, traditional leaders and law students from across the country.
The Attorney-General and Minister for Justice, Dr Dominic Ayine, represented President John Dramani Mahama, while Speaker of Parliament Alban S. K. Bagbin and Chief of Staff Julius Debrah were also in attendance.
Other notable participants included former Attorney-General Betty Mould-Iddrisu, Marrietta Brew and Joyce Bawa Mogtari, as well as leading members of the legal fraternity.
The conference also attracted legal academics, including Professor Peter Atudiwe Atupare, Dean of the University of Ghana School of Law, and Professor Ernest Kofi Abotsi, Dean of the UPSA Law School.
According to the GLS Women Commissioner, Anatu Anne Seidu Bogobiri Esq., the Society has grown into a credible professional organisation with a clear role in supporting lawyers and strengthening the legal profession.
She described the GLS as “a vibrant and viable professional body poised to champion the interests, professional development and welfare of lawyers within Ghana’s legal ecosystem.”
She said the successful organisation of the maiden conference marked an important stage in the Society’s development and provided a platform to engage members of the legal fraternity.
“The successful maiden conference marks a remarkable milestone in the evolution of Ghana’s legal profession and sets a powerful tone for the future,” she said.
The Ghana Law Society developed from the Law Society of Ghana, which began around 2022. The organisation says it has since grown in strength, credibility and membership confidence.
Its maiden Annual Conference brought together lawyers from across Ghana and law students from faculties nationwide, reinforcing its stated commitment to the professional development and welfare of lawyers.
