Ghana’s Deputy Ambassador to Saudi Arabia Sanni Jajah dies

Ghana’s Deputy Ambassador to Saudi Arabia, Sanni Jajah, has died, his nephew and Ayawaso North Member of Parliament (MP) Yussif Jajah has confirmed.

Mr Jajah died on Saturday evening, according to the MP, who described the death as a major loss to the family.

He appealed to relatives, friends and members of the public to keep the family in their thoughts and prayers as they mourn the diplomat.

The family has not yet announced details of the cause of death.

Mr Yussif Jajah said further information about the funeral and burial arrangements would be made available at a later date.

Sanni Jajah was appointed Deputy Head of Mission at Ghana’s Embassy in Saudi Arabia on 11 September 2025 by President John Dramani Mahama.

He served alongside Ghana’s Ambassador to Saudi Arabia, Alhaji Said Sinare, in supporting the country’s diplomatic representation in the Kingdom.

His responsibilities included assisting with diplomatic and consular matters and supporting Ghanaian citizens living in or visiting Saudi Arabia.

He also played a role in matters involving Ghanaian pilgrims who travelled to Saudi Arabia for the annual Hajj.

The embassy’s consular responsibilities include assisting Ghanaian nationals who require support with documentation, welfare concerns and other issues while in the country.

Mr Jajah’s death comes less than a year after his appointment to the diplomatic post.

The announcement has prompted condolences for the family, with further details about his funeral expected to be released by his relatives.

The family has asked the public to remember them in prayer as preparations are made to bid farewell to the late diplomat.
