Give gov’t one month to resolve concerns – Education Minister to GAUA, TUSAAG over strike

The Minister of Education, Haruna Iddrisu, has appealed to the Ghana Association of University Administrators (GAUA) and the Technical University Senior Administrators Association of Ghana (TUSAAG) to give the government one month to address concerns that triggered their ongoing industrial action.
Mr. Iddrisu made the appeal during a meeting with the leadership of the two unions and Vice-Chancellors’ Ghana aimed at resolving the dispute and restoring industrial harmony on university campuses.
“I want you to give me one month to resolve the issues, and I want you to furnish me with the data to help the resolution,” Mr. Iddrisu said.
He added, “I want us to have industrial harmony on all university campuses.”
Following the meeting, the unions requested 48 hours to consult their members and determine whether to suspend or continue the strike.
Meanwhile, Vice Chancellors’ Ghana has appealed to GAUA and TUSAAG to call off the strike to allow academic and administrative activities to resume fully on university campuses.
The unions are expected to communicate their decision after completing consultations with their members.
The industrial action was declared over unresolved pay disparities, market premium allowances, and unilateral adjustments to interim allowance implementation dates by the Ministry of Finance.
