GoldBod records US$1.87bn FX from ASM gold trade, beats September target

The Ghana Gold Board (GoldBod) has recorded US$1.871 billion in foreign exchange from its artisanal and small-scale gold trade operations in September 2026, exceeding its monthly target of US$1.4 billion.
According to GoldBod’s September FX Generation and Sales Update issued on Wednesday, September 30, the Board sold US$701.3 million to authorised commercial banks, slightly above its US$700 million target, to support stability in the foreign exchange market.
It also provided US$1.170 billion to the Bank of Ghana for reserve accumulation, significantly exceeding the set target of US$700 million.
Looking ahead, GoldBod is projecting US$1.5 billion in foreign exchange generation for October.
Of this amount, US$1 billion will be made available to commercial banks to support FX market stability, while up to US$500 million will be provided to the Bank of Ghana to support reserve accumulation under the Ghana Accelerated National Reserve Accumulation Programme (GANRAP).
GoldBod said the October transactions will be conducted under its newly developed Spot FX Sales/Intermediation Framework.
The Board said the framework is intended to strengthen “transparency, fairness and regulatory compliance.”
GoldBod added that it “remains committed to its statutory mandate to generate foreign exchange for Ghana” and will continue working closely with stakeholders.
The September performance forms part of GoldBod’s mandate under the Ghana Gold Board Act, 2025 (Act 1140), to generate foreign exchange through its gold trade operations.
