GoldBod wins state-owned enterprise of the year at PELT awards

The Ghana Gold Board has been named State-Owned Enterprise of the Year at the Public Enterprises League Table Awards.
The institution, widely known as GoldBod, emerged as the overall winner at the prestigious awards ceremony, further cementing its position as one of Ghana’s top-performing state entities.
In addition to the top honour, GoldBod secured two other major awards on the night—Most Profitable State-Owned Enterprise and Overall Best Specified Entity—marking a significant milestone for the organisation.
The Public Enterprises League Table (PELT) Awards, organised annually by the State Interests and Governance Authority (SIGA), recognise excellence, efficiency and strong financial performance among state-owned enterprises and specified entities.
Receiving the awards on behalf of the Board, Deputy Chief Executive Officer Richard Nunekpeku expressed gratitude to SIGA for the recognition.
“We are excited to receive this award and the third award of the night. On behalf of the Board, management and staff of the Ghana Gold Board, we wish to use the opportunity to thank SIGA for recognizing our performance over the years,” he said.
He noted that the achievement reflects the collective effort of the Board, management and staff, and serves as motivation to sustain high performance.
Mr. Nunekpeku emphasised that the recognition would not lead to complacency, stressing the institution’s resolve to maintain its momentum.
“We also want to remind all other companies, state agencies and enterprises that inasmuch as we have won this year’s award, we are not backing down; we are committed to growing and making sure that we achieve all the targets we set for ourselves in our performance contract with SIGA,” he added.
He further assured that GoldBod remains focused on strengthening its operations and delivering on its mandate in the years ahead.
The recognition highlights the growing influence of GoldBod as a key state institution driving reforms within Ghana’s gold sector.
Its operations have increasingly focused on promoting transparency, enhancing value retention from gold resources, and ensuring sustainable management of the country’s mineral wealth.
Industry observers say such recognition underscores the importance of strong governance structures and performance-driven leadership within state institutions.
The PELT Awards continue to serve as an important benchmark for evaluating the performance of public sector entities, while promoting accountability, operational efficiency and sound corporate governance practices.
The latest recognition places GoldBod among the leading examples of state institutions delivering measurable impact and contributing to national development.
