Gov’t to provide support to complete projects at S. D. Dombo University

Education Minister, Haruna Iddrisu, has assured that the government will support the S.D. Dombo University of Business and Integrated Development Studies and complete its GETFund projects.
Speaking during the inauguration of the Simon Diedong Dombo University Governing Council, the Minister stated that the government, through the GETFUND, will get the stalled projects completed.
“I’ll be the first to concede that in terms of infrastructure, SD Dumbo has not seen any significant support. If I were to say significant, we haven’t seen any support by way of infrastructure.
“I’m happy to announce that this year, the government, through the GET FUND, will make available some seed money for SD Dumbo University as part of government quest, President Mahama’s quest, to support the institution to grow,” Mr. Iddrisu stated.
According to him, the current administration intends to construct a new University of Health, Agriculture, and Life Sciences at Kintampo in the Bono Region.
He disclosed that the bill on this new university will be tabled as soon as Parliament reconvenes from recess.
“It is the desire and intention, as I have publicly stated, that every region of Ghana will be host to one higher education institution of learning. It is the dream and desire of the president that in each region, there would be an established university.
“But we have to begin somewhere, and we have begun somewhat in getting that done. One of the new universities that we would lay a bill in parliament this year would be the University of Health, Agriculture and Life Sciences at Kintampo to serve the Bono Region”, the Minister stated.
