I am divorced and I’m not ashamed to say it – McBrown

Popular actress and radio show host Nana Ama McBrown says divorce should never define or end anyone’s life, describing herself as happier and stronger after moving on.

McBrown made the remarks during an interview on TV3’s New Day on Wednesday morning, where she spoke candidly about her personal journey over the past two years and addressed public interest in her private life.

“In the last two years, I’ve been so happy,” she said, explaining that the happiness followed a period marked by personal challenges. “I’ve gone through marriage issues, health issues and work. So these three things I believe in fell apart. I am happy because I am over them.”

The celebrated entertainer said surviving those experiences has reshaped her outlook on life and strengthened her resolve.

“I believe I am the strongest,” she noted, adding that health challenges, in particular, taught her deeper lessons about life. “If you overcome health, that means God has saved you because not even money can save you when it comes to health.”

McBrown rejected the stigma often attached to divorce, insisting it should not be treated as a personal failure.

“Divorce should never be your end,” she said. “Yes, I have gone through divorce and I am not ashamed to say it.”

She also addressed speculation about her relationship with her former husband, stressing that their separation was not acrimonious. “Me and my husband are cool. We spoke yesterday, we speak today, we will speak tomorrow,” she said.

According to her, mutual respect and friendship have defined their relationship after the divorce. “I am a happy woman, we are the best of friends. We didn’t go through it like the bitter ones,” McBrown added.

The media personality described the experience as emotionally demanding but ultimately liberating. “I have gone through divorce and it has been a rollercoaster for me,” she said, while maintaining that she is content with where she is in life.

McBrown’s comments have sparked wide discussion on social media, with many praising her openness and confidence in addressing issues often considered taboo in Ghanaian society.

As one of Ghana’s most influential entertainment figures, McBrown said sharing her story was about honesty and encouragement, particularly for people facing similar struggles.
