‎‘I served in honour of the fallen heroes’ – Ato Forson bids farewell to Defence Ministry

‎Finance Minister and former Acting Defence Minister, Dr. Cassiel Ato Forson, has expressed gratitude to President John Dramani Mahama for entrusting him with the responsibility of serving in the aftermath of the tragic helicopter crash that claimed the lives of eight Ghanaians on August 6, 2025.

‎Reflecting on his tenure, Dr. Forson said he regarded his appointment as a solemn duty to honour those who lost their lives in the tragedy while serving the country.

‎”I served in honour of the fallen and in service to Ghana.”
‎
‎He also paid tribute to members of the Ghana Armed Forces and Defence Civilian Staff, commending their dedication and professionalism in the discharge of their duties.
‎
‎”I leave with profound respect for the sacrifice, discipline, and professionalism of the Ghana Armed Forces and Defence Civilian Staff,” he stated.

‎Dr. Forson thanked President Mahama for the confidence reposed in him and described his time in the role as an opportunity to serve Ghana at a difficult moment.

‎During the one year marking of the tragic August 6, 2025 military helicopter crash, Finance Minister Dr. Cassiel Ato Forson concluded a year long role as the Acting Defence Minister.
‎
‎He participated in the anniversary memorial events, launched a commemorative defense magazine and officially handed over the defense portfolio to the newly appointed substantive minister.
