John Boadu wins NPP chairmanship race with 2,888 votes

Former New Patriotic Party (NPP) General Secretary John Boadu has been elected National Chairman of the party after securing 2,888 votes at the party’s National Delegates Conference in Kumasi.
The election, held at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium on Saturday, October 3, brought together thousands of delegates from across the country to choose national executives who will steer the party ahead of the 2028 general elections.
Mr. Boadu emerged victorious after a keenly contested race against former Energy Minister Boakye Agyarko and former National Chairman Paul Afoko.
Mr. Boadu secured a decisive victory in the chairmanship race, emerging ahead of his competitors to claim one of the most influential positions within the party. His election comes at a time when the NPP is seeking to reorganise and strengthen its structures following the 2024 elections.
Addressing delegates after his victory, Mr. Boadu expressed gratitude for the confidence reposed in him and pledged to work for the unity and growth of the party.
“I am deeply humbled by the trust that delegates have placed in me. This victory is not for John Boadu alone; it is for the entire New Patriotic Party,” he said.
He assured party members that his leadership would focus on rebuilding cohesion and preparing the party for future electoral contests.
“Our task from today is to unite every member of the party, strengthen our grassroots base and position the NPP for victory in 2028. We must work together because the future of the party depends on our collective efforts,” he stated.
Mr. Boadu also called on supporters of his competitors to rally behind the newly elected leadership and contribute to the party’s rebuilding process.
“There should be no winners and losers after this contest. We are one family, and together we can achieve our goals if we remain focused and united,” he added.
