Julius Debrah’s support for sports unmatched – Kofi Adams

Minister for Sports and Recreation Kofi Adams has praised Chief of Staff Julius Debrah for what he described as exceptional support for Ghana’s sports sector.
Speaking during the opening ceremony of the 2026 African Senior Athletics Championship in Accra, the Minister said Mr. Debrah’s commitment to sports development stands out among all individuals who have previously occupied the Chief of Staff position.
“Hon. Julius Debrah is someone I’m very pleased to work with. Indeed, we have had many Chiefs of Staff in this country, but this one is very different when it comes to supporting sports,” Hon. Adams stated to applause from athletes, officials, and the invited guests.
The Sports Minister explained that the support he has received from the Chief of Staff since taking office has strengthened the Ministry’s efforts to reposition sports and improve development across various disciplines.
“I have really enjoyed a lot of support from him,” he added.
Hon. Adams also appealed to stakeholders within the sporting community to support government initiatives aimed at transforming the sector and creating more opportunities for athletes across the country.
He further expressed gratitude to President John Dramani Mahama for assigning Mr. Debrah to represent him at the championship’s opening ceremony.
The African Senior Athletics Championship has attracted top athletes and sports administrators from across the continent, with participants competing in various track and field events while promoting unity and cooperation through sports.
The championship forms part of efforts to strengthen athletics development in Africa and deepen collaboration among member countries through international competition and exchange.
