Kwaku Kwarteng kicked-out as chairman of the Finance Committee of Parliament

Majority leader Alexander Kwamena Afenyo-Markin has announced the removal of Obuasi West Member of Parliament (MP) Kwaku Kwarteng as chairman for the Finance Committee of Parliament.
The former Deputy Finance Minister will now be moved to the new Committee on Economy created by the new standing orders.
Speaking during the presentation of the business statement for the ensuing week, the Effutu MP explained Mr. Kwarteng will be the spokesperson for the majority side of the economy questioning whether the minority side can boast of a similar arrangement.
“We the majority, we have a new Spokesperson on the Economy you have none. We have a spokesperson and very soon we’re going to unveil him. We have a Spokesperson on economy Hon. Kwaku Kwarteng.”
The majority leader argued the
new committee on the Economy will be very important for the work of the legislature.
“The new Economy Committee is going to be the most important committee of this house in this new standing orders”.
Kwaku Kwarteng as chairman of the finance committee has been variously accused of scuttling every government effort to get $335 million tax waivers for some 1D1F companies passed.
The former Deputy Finance minister also turned down another ministerial appointment by President Akufo-Addo months ago.
