‘Let me commend the Roads Minister’ – Mahama lauds Agbodza for keeping contractors on their toes

President John Dramani Mahama has credited Roads and Highways Minister Kwame Governs Agbodza with helping to accelerate the government’s Big Push infrastructure programme through closer supervision of contractors.
President Mahama made the remarks during an inspection of the Ntotroso Bridge in the Ahafo Region on Friday, October 9, as part of his Resetting Ghana Tour.
He said the minister’s efforts to ensure contractors worked at the expected pace were helping the government advance its infrastructure agenda and move towards its project completion targets.
The Big Push is a flagship infrastructure initiative of the Mahama administration designed to accelerate public infrastructure development, particularly road and bridge construction, to improve transport connectivity and support economic activity.
Its delivery depends on the timely execution of contracts and completion of projects intended to address infrastructure needs across the country.
“Let me commend the Roads Minister for the hard work you are doing. You are keeping all the contractors on their toes, and it is making the programme we launched under the Big Push move at the pace that we expect,” he said.
The President said he expected most contracts awarded under the programme by the end of 2025 to be completed by the end of 2027, expressing confidence that the projects would deliver visible benefits to Ghanaians.
“I am sure by the time we get to the end of 2027, most of the contracts we awarded end of 2025 would have been completed, and Ghanaians will see the benefit of the Big Push programme,” he added.
