UNGA81: Mahama is indeed a blessing to our nation, Africa and humanity – Dr. Apaak

Deputy Minister for Education, Dr. Clement Abas Apaak, has described President John Dramani Mahama as “a blessing” to Ghana, Africa and the global community, citing the growing international interest in his leadership.

In a Facebook post on Thursday, September 24, Dr. Apaak said the number of high-profile leaders and organisations seeking engagements with President Mahama on the sidelines of the 81st United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) was unprecedented.

“H.E JDM is indeed a blessing to our nation, our continent and our humanity,” he wrote.

Dr. Apaak said the level of interest in the Ghanaian President extended beyond political leaders to prominent figures in the global business and development community.

“The sheer number of President’s, Renowned corporate and business leaders, Respected global philanthropists and civil society organisations, seeking opportunities to meet him on the sidelines of UNGA 81 is both sobering and unprecedented,” he said.

He further referenced remarks by the President of Brazil, who he said had described President Mahama as an international statesman.

“The Brazilian President accurately described him as an international statesman, and I agree,” Dr. Apaak added.

President Mahama is currently participating in the 81st UN General Assembly in New York, where Ghana is engaging with world leaders and international institutions on issues including development, economic cooperation and global governance.

Dr. Apaak’s comments come amid a series of diplomatic and high-level engagements involving the President during the UNGA programme.
