Mahama to cut sod for reconstruction of Cape Coast–Takoradi Section of N1 Highway Today

President John Dramani Mahama is set to visit the Western Region today, October 21, 2025, as part of a one-day working tour focused on development and accountability.

The visit highlights his continued commitment to advancing critical infrastructure and public service projects across the region.

A statement issued by the National Democratic Congress (NDC) Western Regional Communication Bureau, signed by Regional Communications Officer Richard Kirk-Mensah, confirmed that the President will cut the sod to mark the commencement of work on the Sekondi-Takoradi to Cape Coast dual carriageway. This project is a key component of the NDC’s “Big Push” agenda, designed to accelerate infrastructure development and enhance national connectivity.

“This transformative highway project is expected to improve trade, facilitate smoother travel, and strengthen economic linkages between the Western and Central Regions,” the statement added. Once completed, the upgraded dual carriageway will provide safer and faster travel for commuters and commercial transport operators, boosting economic activity along the corridor.

In addition to overseeing the highway project, President Mahama will inspect ongoing health infrastructure developments, including the expansion of the Effia Nkwanta Regional Hospital. The inspection underscores a sustained focus on improving healthcare delivery, ensuring that citizens in the Western Region have access to modern and efficient medical services.

The one-day working tour is also aimed at reinforcing accountability in the implementation of government projects. President Mahama’s visit will provide an opportunity to engage directly with regional authorities, review progress on key initiatives, and ensure that development plans translate into tangible benefits for the people.
