Majority visits family of late Tamale Central MP

The Majority Group in Parliament has paid a sorrowful visit to the bereaved family of the late Tamale Central MP, Dr. Ibrahim Murtala Muhammed, following the devastating military helicopter crash that claimed his life and seven others.
The group, led by senior members of Parliament, visited the family at their residence in Accra to offer condolences and support after the heartbreaking incident, which has left the nation shaken.

Dr. Murtala Muhammed, who also served as Minister for Environment, Science, Technology and Innovation, died in the tragic crash that occurred on Wednesday, August 6, in the Ashanti Region. He was travelling with Defence Minister Dr. Edward Omane Boamah, among other officials and military crew, when the Ghana Armed Forces helicopter went down under yet-to-be-determined circumstances.
Dr. Mohammed Amin Adam, MP for Karaga, spoke briefly on behalf of the delegation and led an Islamic prayer in memory of the departed colleague. He encouraged the family to find comfort in Dr. Murtala’s legacy of public service, courage, and commitment to his people.
“This is a loss none of us can fully comprehend. But our brother now rests with the Almighty, and we must continue to honour his life by holding on to his values,” Dr. Amin said.
The crash, one of the most tragic incidents in Ghana’s recent history, also claimed the lives of several high-profile individuals. These include Acting Deputy National Security Coordinator Muniru Mohammed, NDC Vice Chairman Dr. Samuel Sarpong, and former parliamentary candidate Samuel Aboagye.
Three Air Force personnel, who formed the helicopter’s crew, also perished in the crash: Squadron Leader Peter Bafemi Anala, Flying Officer Manin Twum-Ampadu, and Sergeant Ernest Addo Mensah.
