MCE’s aide sets records straight on misleading claims on Oduman Islamic Basic School Project

The Ga West Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) has rejected circulating audio and video clips that suggest he misled project coordinators during an inspection of the Oduman Merciful Islamic Basic School project, implemented by Qatar Charity.
In a detailed statement issued by Quarshie Segbefia Hanson, P.A. to the MCE, the Municipal Chief Executive clarified that the inspection followed a formal invitation from the Oduman Zongo Chiefs, led by Chief Sulemana Mandy, ahead of the project’s scheduled handover to the Ghana Education Service (GES). This marked the second official invitation extended to the MCE regarding the project, which the Assembly emphasized is a routine, lawful, and essential procedure to ensure that public educational infrastructure meets required standards before commissioning.
Addressing claims in the circulating audio and video alleging that he misled project coordinators regarding the availability of drip equipment, the statement said the allegations are “outright false, reckless, and intentionally misleading.” It explained that the drip equipment had broken down at the material time of the request and clarified that the MCE never withheld support, acted in bad faith, or misrepresented facts regarding the equipment.
The statement noted that the project coordinators had maintained consistent and transparent engagement with the MCE and the Municipal Assembly, providing updates at every stage of implementation. The inspection, therefore, was proper, justified, and undertaken in good faith.
“This is not an act of civic vigilance but a clear case of political mischief and deliberate misinformation,” the statement added, condemning the circulation of audios and videos aimed at damaging the MCE’s reputation.
The office also criticized individuals who claim ownership of the project, describing such assertions as “equally troubling.” The statement said that basing ownership claims on limited or ancillary contributions betrays either a fundamental misunderstanding of development partnerships or a willful attempt to mislead the public for personal or political relevance.
The Ga West Municipal Assembly urged the public to disregard the false narratives and continue supporting responsible, transparent, and development-focused governance in the interest of the Oduman community. The statement concluded that the Assembly “will not allow deliberate misinformation or cheap political distortion to undermine a legitimate community development project.”
