Ministry of Education welcomes Fresh SHS students nationwide

The Ministry of Education has extended warm congratulations to about 590,000 first-year Senior High School (SHS) students who are reporting to their respective schools across the country for the 2025/2026 academic year.

The students are expected to report from Saturday, October 18, and Monday, October 20, 2025.

In a press statement dated October 18, 2025, and signed by the Press Secretary to the Minister of Education, Hashmin Mohammed, the Ministry described the reopening as “a significant milestone in the academic journey of our young learners” and urged them to embrace this new phase of education “with dedication, discipline, and enthusiasm.”

“The Ministry warmly welcomes all newly admitted students to the secondary education system and encourages them to approach this next phase of their learning with a sense of responsibility and commitment,” the statement added.

The Ministry also commended parents and guardians for their patience and cooperation throughout the school placement process.

It confirmed that placement into schools and residential arrangements for the 2025/2026 academic year have officially closed, allowing a smooth start to academic activities across the country.

“This marks a significant milestone in their academic journey and a new chapter in their educational pursuit. The Ministry warmly welcomes all newly admitted students to the secondary education system and urges them to approach this next phase of their learning with dedication, discipline, and enthusiasm.

“The Ministry also commends parents and guardians for their patience and cooperation throughout the school placement process and wishes to announce that placement into schools and residential status for the 2025/2026 academic year has officially closed.

“Accordingly, parents and guardians are encouraged to proceed to their assigned schools to complete enrollment formalities and ensure that their wards settle in smoothly for the commencement of academic work.

“We once again welcome our young learners to the Senior High School family and wish them the very best in their academic and personal development,” the statement concluded.
