A 41-year-old man who was reported missing during the Christmas period has been found dead under troubling circumstances in a bush at Bapilla, a community in the Talensi District of the Upper East Region.
The incident has triggered fear, grief, and renewed security concerns among residents of neighbouring districts.
The deceased has been identified as Mosobil Levyang, popularly known as Capito, a tricycle rider from Dagliga in the Nabdam District. His death has sent shockwaves through Dagliga and surrounding communities, where he was well known for his work and social ties.
According to family sources, Mosobil Levyang left his family home at Dagliga Lebyang House in mid-December 2025 after informing relatives of his intention to travel to Zomeela in search of employment opportunities. Days later, concerns were raised when he failed to return or make contact with family members.
On Thursday, December 25, 2025, colleagues of the deceased reportedly informed his family that he had not been seen at their usual base for several days. After repeated attempts to reach him proved unsuccessful, the family officially reported him missing and appealed to the public for information regarding his whereabouts.
An extensive search was subsequently launched, covering several neighbouring towns and villages across the Nabdam and Talensi areas. Despite the effort, no leads emerged until Wednesday, December 31, 2025, when residents discovered a body in a bush at Bapilla in the Talensi District.
Family members later identified the body as that of Mosobil Levyang. Disturbingly, the body was reportedly found naked, with visible signs of physical trauma, including bruises, a swollen jaw, and a pierced stomach, deepening suspicions of foul play.
“The injuries on his body show that something terrible happened to him. We strongly believe he was attacked, and we are demanding justice for our brother,” a family member told Graphic Online’s Gilbert Azeem Tiroog.
The discovery has heightened fear and anger among residents of Dagliga and nearby communities, with many describing the incident as deeply unsettling. Community members have called for a thorough and transparent investigation to establish the circumstances surrounding the death and bring those responsible to justice.
Some residents also appealed to security agencies to intensify patrols, particularly in parts of Talensi East, where incidents of robbery and violent crime have reportedly increased over the years.
The body of the deceased was laid to rest on Wednesday, December 31, 2025, in accordance with local customs. The burial took place amid visible grief and heightened tension, as residents expressed concern over safety and the growing sense of insecurity in the area.
As investigations are expected to continue, the incident has renewed calls for stronger security presence and community-police collaboration to prevent similar tragedies in the future.
