Motor rider trapped to death under truck at Tesano

A tragic accident at Tesano last Friday claimed the life of a motor rider who was dragged under a moving truck near the Police Training Academy Road close to Alajo Junction.
The incident caused heavy traffic and drew a crowd of shocked onlookers.
According to Abdul Rahman Karim, the conductor of the truck, the accident happened around 12:10 p.m. as the vehicle was transporting bags of rice from Achimota. He said the driver of the truck heard unusual noises and stopped, only to find the motor rider lying lifeless beneath the vehicle on the Tesano road.
Witnesses said the deceased, believed to be in his early 30s, had fallen from his motorbike before his shirt got trapped under the tyre of the moving truck. The motor rider was dragged several meters along the Tesano stretch, leading to his instant death.
A private car driver involved in the chain of events explained that the motorbike, which was speeding, hit the back of his vehicle and veered off. Moments later, he too heard disturbing sounds and discovered the victim under the truck, with parts of the motorbike mangled.
Police officers who observed the buildup of traffic quickly arrived at the scene and informed the Motor Transport and Traffic Directorate (MTTD). By 1:30 p.m., investigators had taken the body to the morgue.
The deceased was later identified as a staff member of APSONIC Motors at Caprice. Colleagues revealed that he had been working earlier in the day, servicing a client’s motorbike before setting off on what turned out to be his final ride.
The accident attracted scores of okada riders, who expressed disappointment at the delay in conveying the body. The scene left the Tesano road gridlocked for several hours.
