Nana Akua’s husband to face court immediately after hospital discharge – Police

The husband of Rosemond Akua Adobea, popularly known as Nana Akua, is expected to appear before court after his discharge from hospital as the Ghana Police Service continues investigations into alleged domestic abuse involving the couple.
The Criminal Investigations Department (CID) said Harold Norman was scheduled to appear before court on October 7, but the appearance was postponed after his lawyer notified the Police that he had been admitted to hospital.
Police investigators from the Domestic Violence and Victim Support Unit (DOVVSU) have since visited the hospital to verify the claim.
The CID said it is monitoring the situation to ensure the case proceeds as soon as Norman is discharged.
“Investigators from DOVVSU have visited the said hospital to verify the claim and are monitoring the situation to ensure he is arraigned immediately upon discharge,” the Police said.
The development comes after recent viral videos involving the alleged abuse of Nana Akua generated public attention.
However, the Police said the investigation predates the recent circulation of the videos. According to the CID, it received a petition from Rosemond Akua Adobea on August 20, 2026, alleging that her husband had subjected her to “physical, emotional and economic abuse.”
The Police further disclosed that preliminary investigations revealed that the couple had previously been handled by DOVVSU at the Lakeside and Ministries Police Stations in July 2026.
Following the August petition, Norman was arrested at his residence on August 27 to assist with investigations.
“A caution statement was subsequently obtained from him and on 29th August, 2026 he was granted a Police enquiry bail with two sureties while investigation continued,” the statement said.
The CID said it is also working with the Minister for Gender, Children and Social Protection to support the alleged victim and her children.
“The Criminal Investigation Department is working with the Minister for Gender, Children and Social Protection to ensure the provision of social welfare services for the victim and the children,” it stated.
The Police assured the public that the matter was being handled through the appropriate investigative process.
“The Ghana Police Service remains committed to protecting victims of domestic violence and ensuring that complaints brought before the Service are investigated professionally and fairly,” the statement added.
