NDC sets December 19, 2026 for national delegates conference

The National Democratic Congress (NDC) has fixed December 19, 2026, for its National Delegates Conference, officially triggering its internal electoral calendar. The process will culminate in the election of new national executives ahead of the 2028 general elections.

The party’s General Secretary, Fifi Fiavi Kwetey, announced the date while briefing the media on Thursday, January 29, 2026, describing the conference as a critical milestone in the NDC’s organisational retooling.

According to Mr. Kwetey, the process will adhere to the party’s long-standing bottom-up electoral model, beginning at the grassroots level and progressing through constituency and regional contests before reaching the national stage. He noted that this approach ensures inclusiveness and legitimacy across the party’s structures.

Outlining the roadmap to the conference, Mr. Kwetey said nomination forms for national executive positions will be issued between November 7 and November 9, 2026. Aspirants will undergo vetting on November 12 and 13, with an appeals window scheduled for November 15 and 16, 2026.

As part of the broader electoral calendar, the NDC will also hold its Youth and Women’s Conference on December 12, 2026, a week before the main delegates conference.

Mr. Kwetey said the carefully sequenced timetable is aimed at strengthening internal cohesion and sharpening the party’s readiness for the next electoral contest. “This process is designed to position the party strongly for the future and prepare us adequately for the next round of political competition,” he stated.

He added that the National Delegates Conference will not only elect new officers but also serve as a platform for consolidating organisational reforms and reinforcing party unity as preparations toward 2028 intensify.

The National Delegates Conference remains the highest decision-making body of the NDC, bringing together delegates from across the country to determine leadership direction and shape the party’s strategic outlook for the years ahead.
