NPP sets October 3 for national executive elections

The New Patriotic Party’s National Elections Committee has released an updated timetable for the party’s National Executive Elections, with voting set for Saturday, October 3, 2026.

In a statement dated Tuesday, August 11, 2026, and signed by the Committee, the NPP said the elections will be conducted pursuant to Article 10(2) of the Party Constitution and other relevant provisions.

According to the new schedule, nominations will open on August 17 and close on August 22, 2026. Filing of nominations will take place from August 23 to August 27, followed by vetting from August 31 to September 3.

The Committee therefore noted that “vetting results will be published on September 5,” with appeals to be heard between September 6 and September 7. The National Executive Committee will meet on September 10, while notice of poll will be given on September 14 ahead of the main elections on October 3.

The statement also named the nine-member national elections committee that will oversee the election process. It will be chaired by Frederick Opare-Ansah, with Abena Osei Asare as Vice Chair. Other members include Oboshie Sai Coffie, Frank Davies Esq, Anthony Karbo, Salam Ama Mpianiama Damata, Eric Ntori, the Ashanti Regional Chairman, and Evans Nimako as Secretary.

The Committee further noted that “a person shall not be eligible to contest in the national executive elections unless they meet the qualification criteria set out in the Party Constitution,” the statement noted.

The upcoming New Patriotic Party (NPP) National Executive Elections are part of a broader, structured internal reorganization aimed at positioning the party for the 2028 general elections after exiting power in December 2024.
