Police postpone Traffitech-GH rollout to November 1

The Ghana Police Service has postponed the full implementation of the automated traffic law enforcement programme, Traffitech-GH, from October 1 to November 1, 2026, to allow for more public education.

The announcement was made in a statement issued by the Police Headquarters Public Affairs Directorate on Tuesday, September 29.

According to the statement, the decision was taken to provide additional time for public awareness and education on the programme, its operations and the traffic offences it is designed to detect.

The Police Service explained that the extra month would also help motorists and the general public better understand the Electronic Notices of Violation (ENV) that will be issued to offending road users under the system.

“The rescheduling is to allow for a more extensive public awareness and education on the programme, including its operations, the traffic offences to be detected, the Electronic Notices of Violation (ENV) to be issued to offending motorists,” the statement said.

The Service noted that Traffitech-GH forms part of broader efforts to address indiscipline on Ghana’s roads and improve compliance with road traffic laws and regulations.

It urged motorists, drivers and vehicle owners to use the additional period to familiarise themselves with the programme before its full rollout.

“The Ghana Police Service, therefore, urges motorists, drivers and vehicle owners to take advantage of the additional period to familiarise themselves with the programme ahead of the roll out,” the statement added.

The Police Service further expressed appreciation to the media for supporting the introduction of the project and reaffirmed its commitment to working with stakeholders to ensure its successful implementation.

“The Service is grateful to the media for the unflinching support throughout the introduction of the project, and remains committed to working with all other stakeholders to ensure the successful implementation of TRAFFITECH-GH for improved road safety,” the statement said.
