President of Gabon arrives in Ghana for two-day official visit

The President of the Gabonese Republic, H.E. Brice Clotaire Oligui Nguema, arrived in Accra on Tuesday, 28th July 2026, to commence a two-day official visit to the Republic of Ghana.

President Oligui Nguema was received on arrival at the Accra International Airport by the President of the Republic of Ghana, H.E. John Dramani Mahama. Also present to welcome the Gabonese leader were the Minister for Foreign Affairs, Hon. Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa (MP), other Ministers of State, senior government officials, members of the diplomatic corps, and traditional and military dignitaries.

The official visit underscores the longstanding cordial relations between Ghana and Gabon and reflects the shared commitment of both countries to deepen bilateral cooperation in areas of mutual interest. The visit is also expected to provide an opportunity for the two Heads of State to hold high-level discussions on strengthening political, economic and diplomatic ties, while exploring new avenues for collaboration in support of regional integration and sustainable development.

As part of the visit, President Oligui Nguema is expected to participate in a number of official engagements, including bilateral talks with President Mahama and other activities aimed at reinforcing the enduring friendship between the two sister Republics.

The visit is expected to further consolidate the excellent relations between Ghana and Gabon and reaffirm the commitment of the two countries to promoting peace, stability, economic cooperation and prosperity on the African continent.

A Guard of Honour was mounted by the Ghana Army in his honour.
