School selection: Parents, stakeholders must support Haruna, Apaak to succeed – Victoria Naema

A member of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) Communication team, Victoria Naema Abdulai, has called on opinion leaders, parents, and stakeholders in the educational sector to support the Minister for Education, Haruna Iddrisu, and his deputy, Dr. Clement Apaak, to succeed.
This follows the Ministry of Education’s official launch of the new guidelines for the school selection process for candidates sitting for the 2025 Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE). https://drive.google.com/…/1DrunETGrBUXNjJ…
The Deputy Minister for Education, Dr. Clement Apaak, addressing the media, indicated that no headteacher or teacher is permitted to complete the school selection forms on behalf of students without the explicit approval of parents or guardians.
The new guidelines are expected to have a positive impact on students and enable them to take ownership of their educational choices as well as make informed decisions about their future
The Free Senior High School (SHS) Coordinator, Ms. Benita Sena Okity Duah, urged parents and guardians to take an active interest in the school selection process.
She noted that this is a critical moment in the academic journey of BECE candidates and requires the full support and engagement of all stakeholders.
Ministry remains committed to equitable access to quality education and urges all stakeholders to adhere to the new guidelines to ensure a smooth and successful placement process.
Commenting on the development, madam Neama stated that the new move by the Ministry should be supported by stakeholders.
“So, with new directives from the Ministry and the Free Senior Secretariat, the Minister for Education, Haruna Iddrisu, and his Deputy, Dr. Clement Apaak, cannot do it alone.
“They will need the support of the opinion leaders, parents and guidance, and all stakeholders to support the children in diverse ways necessary for a smooth process in the education sector,” she added.
