Tema Port under drastic transformation – Danite Kweku Mensah writes

Mr Tebon Zumah
For more than seven years, we are now beginning to see drastic measures being taken by the current Director of Tema Port, Tebon Zumah to bring massive change in the day-to-day operations in Tema Port.
Gone were the days of our brothers! For a whole month, Tema Port with sixteen wharfs will have not more than two vessels to berth for the Port to remain active in operations. Several complaints were coming from Shipping Agencies, Stevedores Companies, Insurance and Risk Management Companies etc al. That, Tema Port is completely out of operation, and their companies are losing much, where they have to lay so many people off to keep their companies running.
But now, the same companies are marveled by the gradual transformation and how things have suddenly turned around for more vessels to be berthing at Tema Port lately, making them regain their strength as companies. Our visits to some of these companies gave us the information that, current Director of Tema Port, Tebon Zumah, is the main reason things have suddenly turned around.
All fingers point at him as being the magic behind their current smiles. Some of the questions being asked by some operations managers are:
Why didn’t the appointment committee make him the Director General instead of the Director of Tema Port?
Didn’t they know that he has this expertise to turn things around within some time?
Honestly speaking, guilt has been resting on my conscience since I was asked such questions. Why! Because I played a very vital role in ensuring that he wasn’t given that position, and sincerely, I am still living with that guilt.
Mr Tebon Zumah truly deserves better. We believe and know that going forward! Mr President and every stakeholder involved will see the need to elevate him to the Director General position as soon as a vacancy for that position arises again. We can’t make further mistakes going forward; we learn from our mistakes.
Mr Tebon Zumah truly deserves better.
Danite Kweku Mensah.
