Two Ghanaians injured in Dubai following drone attack

Two Ghanaian nationals sustained injuries after a drone incident near Dubai International Airport, Ghana’s Foreign Affairs Ministry has confirmed.
The incident occurred on March 11, 2026, according to a statement issued by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, which said it had received information from authorities in the United Arab Emirates regarding the development.
In the statement signed by the ministry, the Government of Ghana strongly condemned any act that threatens civilian lives and vital infrastructure.
“The Government of Ghana strongly condemns any act that endangers civilian lives and critical infrastructure,” the statement said.
It added that such attacks pose serious risks to public safety and highlight the need to protect civilians as well as key international transport hubs.
The ministry disclosed that Ghana’s Ambassador to the United Arab Emirates had already taken steps to assist the injured nationals.
“Ghana’s Ambassador in the United Arab Emirates has led a delegation of our Embassy in Abu Dhabi and Consulate in Dubai to visit the two injured Ghanaians in hospital,” the statement explained.
Authorities indicated that the victims are receiving medical care and are expected to recover.
“Their injuries are not critical and we expect full recovery soon,” the ministry stated, while urging the public to remain calm as consular support continues.
Officials also noted that the government is maintaining close contact with the relevant authorities in the host country while monitoring developments surrounding the incident.
“The Ministry is closely monitoring the situation and will continue to engage with the appropriate authorities as required,” the statement added.
Government further conveyed its concern over the development and extended its thoughts to the injured individuals and their families.
The ministry also reminded Ghanaian nationals living in the Gulf region to remain vigilant and follow instructions from Ghanaian diplomatic missions and local authorities.
Meanwhile, the incident comes days after two Ghanaian peacekeepers serving with the United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon were critically injured during missile strikes on their base in southern Lebanon.
According to the Ghana Armed Forces, the attack targeted the Ghana Battalion Headquarters during escalating hostilities between the Israel Defense Forces and the militant group Hezbollah.
Two soldiers sustained critical injuries while another personnel was left traumatised. The injured troops were treated at a medical bunker before arrangements were made for their evacuation to the UN referral hospital.
The Ghana Armed Forces also reported that the Officers’ Mess facility at the base was completely destroyed during the missile strike.
Ghana has formally protested that attack at the United Nations headquarters in New York while urging parties involved in the conflict to prioritise the safety of peacekeepers operating in the mission area.
