13 killed, five critically injured as Ford Transit, Toyota Hiace crash on Sege Highway

A road crash on the Sege-Ada highway has claimed the lives of 13 people, with five others sustaining critical injuries.

The incident occurred on Wednesday, September 2, when a Ford Transit and a Toyota Hiace were involved in a collision while travelling towards Ada.

The Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS) said 18 people were involved in the accident.

Firefighters from the Sege Fire Station were deployed to the scene, where they carried out rescue operations and attended to the victims.

The five survivors were subsequently conveyed to the Sege Polyclinic for treatment due to the severity of their injuries.

Isaac Kojo Opoku, Assistant Divisional Officer at the GNFS Public Relations Department, confirmed the fatalities and injuries in a report.

The Service extended its condolences to the families of those who died and wished the injured a full and speedy recovery.

Authorities are continuing investigations to determine what caused the crash. The identities of the victims are yet to be released.
