Lumba’s children distance themselves from ongoing funeral disputes

The children of the late highlife legend Charles Kwadwo Fosuh, popularly known as Daddy Lumba, have distanced themselves from the ongoing legal tussle over his funeral and burial arrangements.
In a statement dated October 15, 2025, and signed by Charlyn Fosuh on behalf of the children of Akosua Serwaa and Daddy Lumba, they clarified that they are “not parties to this legal process and do not wish to be involved in any disputes or conflicts surrounding the funeral arrangements.”
The children said their only focus is to honour their father’s memory in a dignified and peaceful manner, befitting his remarkable life and musical legacy.
“Our only desire is to honour our father’s memory in a dignified, respectful, and peaceful manner, befitting his remarkable life and contributions,” the statement read.
They emphasized unity among all sides of the family and called for mutual respect during this emotional period.
“We stand together as his children from all sides of the family united in our love and respect for our father,” they said, urging the public to allow them space to grieve and celebrate his life.
The statement also appealed to the media and social commentators to exercise restraint in their coverage of the ongoing court proceedings and related family matters.
“We kindly ask the general public, especially the media and social media commentators, to be measured and respectful in their commentary regarding the family, any ongoing legal matters, and the funeral arrangements,” it stated.
They stressed that their late father deserved a farewell that mirrored the values he cherished in life, “peace, dignity, and unity.”
Daddy Lumba, celebrated for his decades-long contribution to Ghanaian highlife music, passed away recently, leaving behind a legacy that continues to inspire generations.
Their statement comes just hours after their mother, Ms. Akosua Fosuh and the late musician’s sister petitioned the Criminal Investigations Department of the Ghana Police Service and the German embassy to investigate the “unclear” circumstances leading to Daddy Lumba’s death.
In the petition signed by the family secretary on behalf of Mrs. Akosua Serwah Fosuh and Ms. Ernestina Fosuh, the family described the circumstances surrounding the 60-year-old musician’s death as “unclear and deeply distressing.”
According to the family, there are three conflicting accounts about how the German-based Ghanaian icon died on July 26, 2025.
They are urging the police to interview some personalities involved in the situation including Lumba’s longtime manager, Mr. Philip Kwabena A., popularly known as Roman Fada.
Meanwhile the funeral planning committee has scheduled the final funeral rites of the late musical superstar for 6th December, 2025 at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium in Kumasi.
