First year enrollment: Haruna Iddrisu makes surprise visit to Presec-Legon

Education Minister, Haruna Iddrisu on Monday morning made a surprise stop at the Presbyterian Boys Senior High School, Legon to observe the enrollment of first-year students in the school.
In videos circulated on social media, the minister could be seen surveying the campus as he shook hands with parents and guardians who had come to drop off their children and wards.
At one point, Mr. Iddrisu met the Chief Executive Officer of Special Ice Company Limited, Dr. Ernest Ofori Sarpong with whom he toured some facilities of the school.
The minister looked satisfied with developments, after his visit to one of the country’s highly rated high schools.
Speaking to reporters after the tour, the minister said that the government had an obligation to give Presec Boys all that it needed to ensure its continued success.
“I have to come to speak headmaster to understand where the real problems are. I see that infrastructure is not enough, classrooms, dormitories, laboratories and this is one of the best-performing schools, so we have the responsibility to support them,” he stressed.
Mr. Iddrisu also took some time to interact with the new students who had just been registered at the administration. The students were in white short-sleeves on top of brown khaki trousers.
The Ghana Education Service last month scheduled admission of freshers for 18th October, 2025.
Since Saturday, students have been arriving at the various senior high and technical schools nationwide where they had been posted by the placement system after the Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE).
Meanwhile, authorities have warned schools against turning away students who have been placed through the resolution centres.
