Buah leads Ghana’s delegation to COP 30

Minister of Lands and Natural Resources and Acting Minister of Environment, Science and Technology, Emmanuel Armah-Kofi Buah, has arrived in Brazil to lead Ghana’s delegation to COP 30, the 30th Conference of the Parties to the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC).
The global conference, hosted in Belém, Brazil, from November 6 to 21, 2025, brings together world leaders, negotiators, and climate advocates to shape collective action on environmental sustainability and global climate resilience.
Mr. Buah will represent President John Dramani Mahama at the Summit of Heads of State on Thursday, November 6, where he is expected to deliver Ghana’s national statement, the Ministry of Environment confirmed.
His address is expected to highlight the country’s climate priorities, ongoing adaptation efforts, and appeal for stronger international partnerships in addressing the climate crisis.
The delegation will engage in ministerial dialogues, technical negotiations, and multilateral meetings focused on renewable energy, forest conservation, and sustainable development financing.
Ghana’s participation aims to strengthen bilateral cooperation with countries and institutions advancing climate adaptation strategies.
According to ministry officials, the conference offers an opportunity for Ghana to showcase progress made under its Nationally Determined Contributions (NDCs) and to push for fair climate financing mechanisms for developing nations.
Through its engagement in Brazil, Ghana aims to reinforce its leadership role in Africa’s climate diplomacy while advocating for pragmatic global commitments that protect vulnerable nations from worsening climate impacts.
Among other achievements, COP has increased political momentum for climate action, helped mobilize billions in climate finance for renewable energy, forest protection, and adaptation projects.
The international engagement has also encouraged national commitments (NDCs) to cut emissions and build climate resilience.
