Binduri MP facilitates installation of two electricity transformers for communities

The Member of Parliament for Binduri, Issifu Mahmoud, has facilitated the installation of two electricity transformers for the communities of Nayoko and Manga following persistent power outages that had disrupted daily life in the area.
The move comes after residents and local leaders appealed for urgent intervention to resolve the electricity crisis affecting the two electoral areas. The issue was raised during the commissioning of a Community-based Health Planning and Services (CHPS) compound in Nayoko, where the Assemblyman for the area, Honourable Mustapha, together with community members, called on the MP to help address the situation.
Residents complained that the prolonged outages had negatively affected their daily activities and livelihoods. According to them, the power interruptions had led to damage to electrical appliances and made living conditions difficult, particularly during the night when the communities were left in extended darkness.
Following the appeal, Mr. Mahmoud engaged the Ministry of Energy to seek urgent intervention to resolve the matter. The engagement, according to the MP, resulted in a directive from the sector minister for immediate steps to be taken to fix the faulty transformers serving the communities.
“I lobbied and the Energy Minister instructed that they fix it immediately,” Mr. Mahmoud said.
Subsequently, the Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG) moved in to replace the faulty equipment and begin the installation of new transformers to restore stable electricity supply to the affected communities.
The installation of the transformers is expected to significantly improve electricity reliability in Nayoko and Manga, benefiting households, businesses, and public institutions in the area.
Residents of the two communities have welcomed the intervention and expressed appreciation for the swift response to their concerns. They noted that the replacement of faulty transformers often takes several months, but the engagement with the Ministry of Energy helped accelerate the process.
Community members believe the restoration of reliable electricity supply will help improve living conditions, support small-scale businesses, and ease the difficulties they have experienced due to the prolonged outages. They also commended the MP for responding to their concerns and facilitating engagement with the relevant authorities to ensure the issue was addressed promptly.
