We’ll keep our promises to the Ashanti Region – Asiedu Nketia

The National Democratic Congress (NDC) has said that it remains focused on fulfilling its 2024 election pledges in the Ashanti Region.
Johnson Asiedu Nketia, National Chairman of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), has assured residents of the Ashanti Region that the party will honour the commitments it made during the 2024 general election.
Addressing the community at Nsuta Kwamang Beposo on the opening day of his Ashanti “Thank You Tour,” Mr. Asiedu Nketia explained that the visit is designed not only to show appreciation but also to introduce a framework for accountability, enabling the party to monitor progress on promises made to both citizens and traditional authorities.
He acknowledged the weight of challenges the government inherited but stressed that under President John Dramani Mahama, measures are already underway to stabilise the nation and improve the welfare of Ghanaians.
Citing ongoing projects in education and water infrastructure, Mr. Asiedu Nketia described these initiatives as initial steps toward tangible progress, noting that even some opposition supporters have acknowledged the efforts.
Reflecting on the 2024 elections, he highlighted the broad support the NDC received, emphasising that many Ghanaians, regardless of political affiliation, backed the party out of concern for the country’s trajectory and a desire for change.
He called for unity within the party, warning that internal disagreements over positions could undermine future success. Mr. Asiedu Nketia stressed the importance of retaining experienced officials who played a key role in the party’s recent electoral victories and cautioned that unnecessary personnel changes could weaken the party ahead of the 2028 elections.
The chairman also urged that underperforming officials be replaced and encouraged grassroots mobilisation to maintain strong connections with communities throughout the region.
He concluded by thanking chiefs, clergy, party branches, assembly members, and financial supporters for their contributions to the party’s success, reaffirming the NDC’s commitment to inclusive governance and sustainable development in the Ashanti Region.
