Disregard any poll that doesn’t feature Julius Debrah as leading candidate – Ras Mubarak

Former Kumbugu Member of Parliament (MP), Ras Mubarak, has urged the public to dismiss any poll that excludes Chief of Staff Julius Debrah as a leading contender.
In a strongly worded statement, Ras Mubarak challenged the credibility of recent polling by Mussa Dankwah, insisting that the data does not reflect the political reality on the ground ahead of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) 2028 flagbearer race.
“I’ve seen my friend Mussa Dankwah’s latest poll on the NDC’s 2028 flagbearer. While it may seem early for such conversations, let me say this respectfully; the facts on the ground do not support his current findings,” he stated.
Mubarak argued that any credible survey must place Julius Debrah among the frontrunners, stressing, “Any poll that does not feature the Chief of Staff, Hon. Julius Debrah, as a leading candidate should be taken with a very big pinch of salt.”
Drawing on past political contests, the former lawmaker referenced the Ayawaso East by-election to question the reliability of polling outcomes.
He recounted his involvement in behind-the-scenes engagements with Baba Jamal, noting that predictions at the time failed to match eventual results.
“Just like in the Ayawaso East by-election, where I had extensive behind-the-scenes discussions with Baba Jamal, the polls failed to reflect the reality on the ground,” Mubarak said. He added that Jamal was advised to prioritise his campaign message over polling numbers, a strategy he claims proved effective.
“Mussa was wrong then. Insha Allah, he will be proven wrong again,” Mubarak asserted.
Mussa Dankwah is widely regarded as one of Ghana’s leading pollsters.
As Executive Director and lead researcher of Global InfoAnalytics, he has built a reputation for accurate electoral forecasts, correctly predicting outcomes in the 2020 and 2024 presidential elections, as well as the Ablekuma North parliamentary by-election.
However, his previously unblemished record faced scrutiny following Baba Jamal’s victory over Hajia Amina Adam in the NDC parliamentary contest, a result that diverged from polling projections.
Mubarak’s remarks add to growing debate within the NDC over who succeeds President Mahama next year.
