Mahama to operationalise the national research fund

Funding research is very important for a variety of reasons:
Advancing knowledge: Research helps to expand our understanding of the world around us, leading to new discoveries and innovations that can benefit society.
Economic development: Investing in research can lead to the development of new technologies, products, and services that can stimulate economic growth and create new job opportunities.
Solving complex problems: Research can help to address pressing societal challenges, such as healthcare, climate change, and poverty, by providing evidence-based solutions and policy recommendations.
Enhancing competitiveness: Countries that invest in research and development are more likely to be competitive in the global economy, as they can stay ahead of the curve in terms of technological advancements and innovation.
Improving quality of life: Research can lead to improvements in healthcare, education, and other areas, ultimately enhancing the quality of life for individuals and communities.
Funding research is, therefore, essential for driving progress and innovation, and it is an investment that can yield significant long-term benefits for society as a whole.
In connection with these Former President John Mahama who is a 2024 presidential hopeful on the ticket of the National Democratic Congress has promised to operationalise the national research fund if he is elected as the next president of Ghana.
He believes that investing in research and innovation is crucial for the development of the country and that the national research fund can help support and promote research activities in various fields.
Mahama has also emphasised the importance of supporting and funding research institutions and universities to conduct cutting-edge research that can address the country’s challenges and contribute to its development. He has pledged to allocate adequate resources to the national research fund and ensure that it is effectively managed and utilised to support research projects that can have a positive impact on the country.
Overall, Mahama’s commitment to operationalising the national research fund demonstrates his dedication to promoting research and innovation in Ghana and his belief in the power of research to drive economic growth and development.
If elected as the next president, he will work towards creating a conducive environment for research and innovation to thrive in the country.
