NPP presidential race: Akufo-Addo’s nephew abandons Bawumia

Akufo-Addo’s nephew, Dr. Palgrave Boakye-Danquah, has endorsed Kennedy Ohene Agyapong for the NPP’s presidential primaries, breaking ranks with Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia. He made this endorsement public through a social media post.
Dr. Boakye-Danquah’s endorsement is seen as a significant boost to Kennedy Agyapong’s campaign. “The endorsement, alongside that of former Education Ministry spokesperson Kwasi Kwarteng, signals a growing perception that Kennedy Agyapong enjoys stronger grassroots and youth appeal within the party, thanks to his charismatic, no-nonsense persona.”
The development has also fueled speculation about President Akufo-Addo’s support for Dr. Bawumia. “This development also fuels speculation that President Akufo-Addo may not be throwing his full weight behind Dr. Bawumia, contrary to earlier assumptions—particularly after recent closed-door discussions among some Minority MPs at Rock City Hotel in Kwahu.”
As a lecturer at the University of Professional Studies, Accra (UPSA), and a respected royal from the Akyem Abuakwa State, Dr. Boakye-Danquah’s support is expected to galvanize many young professionals behind the #Ken2028 movement.
