Resign – Ejisu MP to Chief Justice
Lawyer Kwabena Boateng, Member of Parliament for Ejisu, has called for the resignation of Chief Justice Gertrude Araba Esaaba Sackey Torkornoo.
Speaking on Kessben Maakye, Kwabena Boateng stated that if the Chief Justice were a family member, he would advise her to resign due to political pressures and related issues.
Kwabena Boateng questioned the historical relationship between the National Democratic Congress (NDC) government and Chief Justices, suggesting a pattern worth examining.
President John Mahama has begun consultations with the Council of State following the submission of three petitions seeking the removal of the Chief Justice. This development highlights the complex relationship between politics and the judiciary in Ghana, emphasizing the need to safeguard judicial independence and maintain public trust in the legal system.
