No disqualifications as NPP clears all 47 national officer aspirants

The New Patriotic Party (NPP) has cleared all 47 aspirants who are contesting for its 2026 national officer positions following the completion of vetting.

The party’s National Officers Elections Committee (NOEC) said the vetting exercise, conducted from August 31 to September 3, 2026, was successfully concluded in accordance with the published timetable.

In a statement dated September 5, NOEC said the National Officers Election Vetting Committee (NOEVC) reviewed the documentation submitted by the aspirants, interacted with them and assessed their eligibility under the applicable rules.

Following the process, the Vetting Committee recommended that all 47 aspirants were suitable and eligible to contest the respective positions for which they filed their nominations.

NOEC subsequently confirmed the recommendation, effectively resulting in no disqualifications from the vetting stage.

“NOEC is pleased to announce that the Vetting Committee has recommended that all forty-seven (47) aspirants who appeared before it are suitable and eligible to contest for the respective positions,” the statement said.

It added: “Accordingly, all 47 aspirants have been CLEARED TO CONTEST, subject to the processes provided under the applicable rules governing the elections.”

The cleared aspirants are contesting across nine national officer positions.

Four aspirants have been cleared for the National Chairman position, while 13 will contest for National Vice-Chairperson.

The General Secretary and National Treasurer positions each have four cleared aspirants, while eight aspirants have been cleared to contest for National Organiser.

Six aspirants will contest for National Youth Organiser, with two cleared for National Women’s Organiser.

Five aspirants have also been cleared for National Nasara (Zongo) Organiser, while one aspirant will contest for National Communications Director.

With the vetting process concluded without any aspirant being disqualified, the party will now proceed to the next stage of preparations for the elections.

NOEC said balloting for positions on the ballot paper is scheduled for Wednesday, September 9, 2026, at the NPP Headquarters in Asylum Down, Accra.

According to the committee, specific times for the balloting of the various positions will be communicated directly to the aspirants.

Aspirants are expected to participate in the balloting either personally or through duly authorised representatives.

The elections are set to take place on 3rd October, 2026.
