Kwasi Kwarteng appointed spokesperson for Kennedy Agyapong’s campaign

Kwasi Kwarteng, a legal practitioner and member of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) National Communications Team, has been appointed as the official spokesperson for Kennedy Agyapong’s flagbearership campaign.

With extensive experience in governance, political communication, and public policy, Mr. Kwarteng is well-suited to articulate the campaign’s vision and objectives.

Mr. Kwarteng boasts an impressive academic and professional background, holding an LLB from GIMPA, a Master’s in Public Administration from KNUST, and a Master’s in International Law from the University of Ghana, among other qualifications. As a qualified Barrister and Solicitor of the Supreme Court of Ghana, he brings a strong legal perspective to the campaign.

Before this appointment, Mr. Kwarteng served as spokesperson for the Ministry of Education, effectively managing media engagements and public communication. His involvement in the 2024 NPP parliamentary primaries in Asante Akyem North showcases his commitment to party politics and ability to connect with grassroots movements.

With expertise in communication, law, and public policy, Kwasi Kwarteng is poised to play a pivotal role in shaping and delivering the campaign’s message to party members and the wider public. The NPP flagbearership campaign is a crucial contest that will determine the party’s candidate for the upcoming presidential election.

While Kennedy Agyapong’s campaign is gaining momentum with Kwasi Kwarteng as spokesperson, other contenders are also vying for the party’s flagbearership. Notable aspirants include Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, former Trade Minister Alan Kyerematen, and others. Key issues that may shape the campaign include the party’s performance in recent elections, economic policies, and the party’s internal dynamics. Ahead of the January 31, 2026 NPP flagbearership race, Prof. Mike Oquaye has warned of the dangers of disunity in NPP with the hope that unity will prevail before, during and after the party’s internal elections.

The former Speaker of Parliament, Professor Aaron Mike Oquaye, cautioned members of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) vying for the flagbearership to demonstrate true patriotism and unity.

Speaking at the launch of the Patriotic Institute in Accra, Prof. Oquaye stressed the importance of cooperation among party members, drawing from past experiences.

Recalling the 1992 flagbearer race, Prof. Oquaye highlighted the spirit of camaraderie among party members, particularly how those who lost the primaries rallied behind Professor Adu Boahen without resorting to personal attacks or division. He urged current aspirants to follow this example, focusing on their achievements, contributions to the party, and vision for Ghana. “If we do that, this party will be successful,” he stated.
