Gov’t releases funds for 2025 WASSCE Practicals

- The government has released 2025 WASSCE Practicals funds for WAEC final examination.
- This release means that learners sitting their final secondary school leaving exam will write the Practical Examination for free for the first time.
The Ghana Education Service (GES) has released funds to all Senior High Schools (SHS) and Senior High Technical Schools (SHTS) across the country to support the conduct of practical examinations for the 2025 West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE).
A press release signed by the Head of Public Relations, Daniel Fenyi, indicated that the funds are meant to ensure that all practical components of the exams are adequately resourced. This includes the provision of required materials and essential resources to support the smooth and timely execution of the examinations.
According to GES, the payment is aimed at removing financial barriers that may affect students’ participation in the practicals, while also easing the burden on parents and guardians.
“GES seeks to facilitate a smooth and well-coordinated examination process that enables students to focus on their academic work,” the statement noted.
Regional, district, and school authorities have been urged to ensure the proper application of the funds for their intended purpose. The Service stressed that management will monitor the utilisation process closely to ensure compliance and maintain high standards during the examination period.
“The Ghana Education Service appreciates the cooperation of all stakeholders in advancing quality education and remains dedicated to creating an enabling environment for the success of all students,” the statement added.
The 2025 WASSCE is scheduled to begin on Monday, August 4, 2025, and end on September 19, 2025. The examination will span over seven weeks and will cover a wide range of core and elective subjects, including practical assessments. A detailed examination timetable has been issued to help schools and students align their preparations accordingly.
