NPP sacks 21 constituency executives in Upper East over misconduct

The New Patriotic Party (NPP) has dismissed 21 of its members and constituency executives from Tempane and Pusiga in the Upper East Region over acts of misconduct and anti-party behaviour during the 2024 general elections.
The sanctions, announced in a statement dated August 1, 2025, and signed by Upper East Regional Chairman Anthony Namoo, follow months of investigations by the party’s Regional Disciplinary Committee. The disciplinary action, the statement noted, is part of broader efforts to strengthen internal discipline and preserve the party’s constitutional order ahead of future contests.
According to the statement, the Regional Executive Committee had on January 25, 2025, referred formal complaints involving polling station executives, electoral area coordinators, and some top constituency officers to the Disciplinary Committee. The committee was tasked with probing allegations of insubordination, abuse of office, and financial misconduct.
The affected individuals were suspended during the investigation and were invited to appear before the committee between March 22 and 23, 2025. Most complied with the invitation, while others submitted written responses.
After deliberations and further internal checks, the committee submitted its report on June 20, 2025. It found several of the suspended members guilty of breaching the party’s constitution and ethical guidelines.
Among those affected were key constituency executives such as Ayaaba Jacob Asaman, Jambeidu Ibrahim, Emmanuel Awinimi Atesiba, and Jacob Akazusah. They have been stripped of their positions and barred from holding any party office for three to five years. Others, including Sawuda Bilgumsey, a former second vice chairman, received indefinite disqualifications linked to unresolved financial issues involving alleged defrauding of party sympathisers.
However, not all were found culpable. Members like Ayamwaog Ibrahim, Salifu Ibn Adams, and Haruna Salam were cleared of wrongdoing and reinstated into the party.
The party said all bans and suspensions took effect retroactively from February 20, 2025. Constituency executive committees in Tempane and Pusiga have been directed to fill the resulting vacancies in accordance with party guidelines.
Regional Chairman Anthony Namoo commended the Disciplinary Committee for acting with “fairness and diligence,” adding that the NPP remains committed to enforcing discipline and unity at all levels.
