Bagbin leads parliamentary delegation to console family of Late Alhaji Muniru

Speaker of Parliament Alban Sumana Kingsford Bagbin, on Monday, August 11, 2025, led a delegation of parliamentary leaders to the residence of the late Alhaji Mohammed Muniru, Acting Deputy National Security Coordinator, to commiserate with his bereaved family.
Alhaji Muniru was among eight high-profile individuals who lost their lives in the August 6 military helicopter crash, which has plunged the nation into mourning.
Addressing the family, Mr Bagbin reflected on the inevitability of life and the need to find comfort in the legacies of those who have passed.
“Man will always propose, and God will dispose. None of us knows when we will come into the world, and none of us knows when we will leave the world. So, we thank God because He gave us very good people, and they have served well,” he said.
The Speaker spoke fondly of his personal relationship with the late Muniru, describing him as a trusted aide and confidant.
“He was my administrator, and before you see me, you have to see him first. That is who I worked with for the past 12 months when I was with the Ministry of Health. Since then, he has been very, very close,” Mr Bagbin recalled.
The parliamentary delegation included Majority Leader Mahama Ayariga, Deputy Minority Leader Patricia Appiagyei, and Majority Chief Whip Rockson Nelson Dafeamekpor. The team offered words of encouragement to the family and paid tribute to the deceased’s dedication to public service.
Alhaji Muniru Mohammed Limuna was buried on Sunday, August 10, alongside Dr. Ibrahim Murtala Muhammed, Minister for Environment, Science, Technology, and Innovation, in accordance with Islamic rites. Janazah prayers were led by the National Chief Imam, Sheikh Osmanu Nuhu Sharubutu, at the Forecourt of the State House before interment at the Military Cemetery near Burma Camp.
Late Alhaji Muniru was among eight individuals who lost their lives in the August 6 military helicopter crash in the Adansi Akrofuom District of the Ashanti Region. The other victims included Defence Minister Dr. Edward Omane Boamah, Dr. Ibrahim Murtala Muhammed, former parliamentary candidate Samuel Aboagye, NDC Vice Chairman Dr. Samuel Sarpong, and three Ghana Armed Forces personnel — Squadron Leader Peter Bafemi Anala, Flying Officer Manin Twum-Ampadu, and Sergeant Ernest Addo Mensah.
The Z-9 military helicopter was headed to Obuasi for the launch of the Responsible Co-operative Mining and Skills Development Programme (COMSDEP) when it went off radar.
