WAEC releases 2025 BECE provisional results

The West African Examinations Council (WAEC) has announced the release of provisional results for candidates who sat for the 2025 Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) for School Candidates.
The examination, which began on Wednesday, June 11, and ended on Wednesday, June 18, 2025, recorded a total of 603,328 candidates drawn from 20,395 participating schools. Out of this number, 297,250 were males and 306,078 were females. WAEC also made provisions for candidates with special needs, including 72 with visual impairment, 239 with hearing impairment, and 161 with other forms of test accommodation.
The exams were conducted at 2,237 centres across the country, although 2,526 candidates were absent. WAEC said the results would be sent to schools through the Metropolitan, Municipal, and District Directors of Education, while candidates who prefer to access them online can do so through the Council’s official website, www.waecgh.org.
In a statement dated August 23, WAEC reminded stakeholders to be cautious of fraudsters who promise to upgrade results for a fee. It stressed that WAEC results are secure, reliable, and can be verified through the appropriate channels.
The Council also used the opportunity to thank the Ministry of Education, the Ghana Education Service, security agencies, heads of schools, supervisors, invigilators, examiners and all stakeholders for their roles in ensuring the smooth conduct of the 2025 BECE and the release of results.
The BECE serves as the main examination for final-year junior high school students across the country and determines placement into senior high schools. With the release of results, focus now shifts to the Computerised School Selection and Placement System (CSSPS), which allocates successful candidates to various second-cycle institutions based on their performance and school choices.
