Akufo-Addo isn’t the role model to call for cessation of derogatory references on JB Danquah – Shmuel Ja’Mba Abm writes

He started these derogatory references. He Addo-Dankwa Akufo-Addo caused the good name of Osagyefo Kwame Nkrumah to be dragged into the mud, only to be greeted to an awakening in Cuba during a visit, soon after his unpatriotic conduct as a president of Osagyefo Kwame Nkrumah founded Ghana, when he used the mandate of his office to cancel the celebration of Founder’s Day on the calendar of public holidays, amongst other covert and overt skirmishes to denigrate and obliterate his legacy.
His Cuban hosts conducted him round to lay a wreath at the feet of a statue erected by the Cubans in memory of Osagyefo Kwame Nkrumah. He had no choice but to swallow his foolish pride and indeed carried out this state protocol observation by the Cuban government.
Did he spot a statue of JB Danquah in Cuba or anywhere in any of his international travels across the world? JB Danquah did himself harm with his prime role as the mastermind behind the murder of Akyea Mensah, the Odikro of Apedwa and son of Nana Ofori-Atta I, his half brother.
He did so out of hate and covetousness for the treasurer of Abuakwa State, Akyea Mensah, in fear of humiliation he’d suffer in his hands, after the death of his generous benefactor, Nana Ofori-Atta I. In essence, this character was the same he displayed when he sought to treat Osagyefo Kwame Nkrumah, who was the General Secretary of the UGCC, with derogatory references, forcing Osagyefo Kwame Nkrumah to leave the UGCC and founded the CPP.
JB Danquah was to follow through his disdain for Nkrumah by spying and reporting on him to the British colonial government thereafter. He accentuated this disdain and call for vengeance on Nkrumah by organising assassination attempts on his life and in disruptions of government activities after his bitter loss in elections to the Gold Coast Legislative Assembly.
He couldn’t contain it any longer, and he was arrested and detained at Nsawam Prison under the Preventive Detention Act, where he died from complications of underlying health issues.
He Addo-Dankwa Akufo-Addo never spared a moment of his life as a President of the Republic of Ghana to take a swipe at HE John Dramani Mahama at the least opportunity. He went to the extreme with allegations that sought to implicate him in the sad demise of HE Prof John Evans Fiifi Atta-Mills, after fruitless efforts to tarnish his hard won reputation in what became known as the Airbus Scandal.
Today, as Ghana stands, no leader has ever ruined and wrecked governance in this country with corruption and mismanagement of state institutions, as did Addo-Dankwa Akufo-Addo with his reckless abuse of state power with impunity and insensitivity. In the brief period of investigations by the Operation Recover All Loot (ORAL) Commission instituted by President-elect John Dramani Mahama on the sidelines of the transition period, a whooping US $21.19b was found whittled away as stolen and suspected to be stashed in offshore accounts in the Caribbeans and in investments elsewhere, under his watch.
That is what Addo-Dankwa Akufo-Addo meant when he said he’d protect the public purse. Coupled to all the above, the extent of illegal mining that the Akufo-Addo/Bawumia government superintended became a national security threat with pollution of water bodies and destruction of forest reserves, at a time the world economic order has settled on gold as the most stable form of security to behold in investments.
Is this the character calling for calm, after inciting ‘militants’ on his ‘side’ to make Ghana ungovernable in his Attacking the Pillars of Power to make him ‘president at all cost’ to institute the Akyem Mafia State Capture for Agyapadeɛ heirloom? Nana, wei deɛ adabraka.
