Sakumono double murder: Police arrest key suspect Samuel Osei Anto at hideout

The principal suspect in the killing of two persons at NTHC Estate, Sakumono, has been arrested after reportedly going into hiding following the incident.
The Ghana Police Service confirmed that Samuel Christopher Osei Anto, who had been declared wanted to assist investigations, was picked up from his hideout.
“The key suspect in the Sakumono murder case, Samuel Osei Anto Christopher who was on the run has been arrested from his hideout. Full details will be communicated,” the Police Service announced.
Samuel’s arrest comes after police earlier confirmed that another suspect, Beatrice Mumuni, 47, had been arrested in connection with the case.
Police believe Mumuni led the principal suspect to the residence of the deceased victims before the killings.
The two victims, identified as George Atuguba, 57, and Irene Atuguba, 47, were found dead at their home at NTHC Estate on October 30, 2026.
Preliminary investigations by the Accra Regional Police Command indicated that the murders may have been linked to a financial disagreement between George Atuguba and Samuel Osei Anto.
According to the police, George had allegedly borrowed GH¢500,000 from the suspect but had failed to repay the money.
The police statement said Samuel reportedly visited the deceased’s residence on the morning of the incident with a woman identified as Beatrice Mumuni to demand repayment.
A misunderstanding allegedly followed, during which Samuel reportedly shot and killed George and his niece, Irene.
The victims were rushed to a hospital but were pronounced dead by a medical officer. Their bodies were later deposited at the Police Hospital Mortuary for preservation and autopsy.
Police say further details about Samuel Osei Anto’s arrest will be communicated as investigations progress.
