Alliance for Civic Action hails Ghana’s progress under President Mahama

Francis Kwesi Badu-Mello - Secretary General, Alliance For Civic Action
The Alliance For Civic Action has commended Ghanaians for their democratic engagement and the progress achieved under President John Dramani Mahama and the National Democratic Congress (NDC) government.
In a statement, the civic group praised the people of Ghana for their participation in the 2024 General Elections, describing it as a demonstration of “wisdom, courage, and patriotism” that led to “the victory and swearing-in of His Excellency John Dramani Mahama and the National Democratic Congress (NDC) government.”
The group noted that this historic transition reflects not only a political milestone but a collective national decision to restore hope, stability, and inclusive development.
Highlighting the achievements of 2025, the Alliance said, “Within just one year of leadership in 2025, Ghana has recorded significant and measurable progress across key sectors of the economy.” According to the statement, the nation has experienced “improved macroeconomic stability, a sustained reduction in inflation, relative exchange rate stability, and a strong appreciation of the Ghana Cedi, reflecting renewed confidence in fiscal and monetary management.”
The statement also applauded the government’s approach to natural resource management, particularly in gold governance. “Notably, the government has demonstrated firm commitment to responsible natural resource governance, particularly through reforms in gold management under the Gold Board, ensuring transparency, value retention, and national benefit.” Efforts to combat illegal mining, locally known as galamsey, were emphasized as a critical step in “safeguarding water bodies, farmlands, and future livelihoods.”
On infrastructure, the Alliance stated, “Infrastructure development has regained momentum, with visible road rehabilitation, expansion projects, and public works, stimulating economic activity, improving connectivity, and creating jobs across the country.” These initiatives, the statement added, are helping to strengthen economic activity and social development in multiple regions.
The civic group further underscored Ghana’s status as a stable democracy in Africa, noting that the peaceful transition has “once again positioned the nation as a beacon of stability and democracy on the global stage, enhancing our international credibility and diplomatic standing.”
The group concluded by urging all Ghanaians to remain united and committed to national development. “Development thrives in unity, and progress is sustained through collective responsibility. Congratulations to President John Dramani Mahama, the NDC, and most importantly, the people of Ghana. May we continue to move forward together in peace, unity, and love.”
