Bawumia exposed in WASSCE cheating scandal – Apaak
Dr. Clement Apaak, the deputy ranking member on the Education Committee in Parliament, asserts that evidence of WASSCE cheating implicates Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia.
In his statement, the lawmaker from Builsa South points to organizations like Africa Education Watch that have publicly addressed the alarming increase in examination malpractices in recent times.
“What DMB and his team forgot was that WAEC itself, the examining body, Africa Education Watch, the most reputable and well-respected education sector CSO in Ghana, and examination monitoring groups, including the Kwame Alorvi team, documented and made public statements on the worrying escalation in examination malpractices in recent times,” Dr. Apaak stated.
In a related development, Dr. Clement Apaak, the deputy ranking member on the Education Committee in Parliament, affirmed the accuracy of former President John Mahama’s remarks regarding student cheating in the recent WASSCE.
This follows unjustified criticism directed at the former President for addressing instances of cheating by some Senior High School students during their concluding exams.
The Builsa South lawmaker briefly asserted that there is supporting evidence for the former President’s statements regarding student cheating in the WASSCE.
“John Dramani Mahama said it as it is when he said some students were allowed to cheat during the recent WASSCE [GHASSCE] examinations.
“Africa Education Watch’s monitoring of WASSCE examinations over the past few years has revealed that cheating has become more widespread and brazing. In some instances, it’s organised, with teachers and supervisors helping students to cheat,” Dr. Apaak stated.
He continued: “I shared here, with the permission of Mr. Alorvi, a message to him by a teacher on cheating. As indicated in the message, the teacher is an assistant supervisor for examinations in his school as well as an assistant WAEC examiner. From his message, he regrets not allowing organised cheating in this year’s WASSCE in his school.”
The Member of Parliament for Builsa South additionally urged all stakeholders to collaborate in addressing the issue of cheating.
“As John Dramani Mahama rightly indicated, the effects of cheating will be apparent in the not too distant future. The sooner we seriously address examination malpractices, the better for us as a nation,” he stated.

Below is the statement by the Builsa South lawmaker
Happy New Year. The truth has exposed DMB and his losing team as deliberately misrepresenting JM for partisan political gains. The evidence has rendered the mischievous plan by DMB to cast JM in a bad light impotent.
What DMB and his team forgot was that WAEC itself, the examining body, Africa Education Watch, the most reputable and well-respected education sector CSO in Ghana, and examination monitoring groups, including the Kwame Alorvi team, documented and made public statements on the worrying escalation in examination malpractices in recent times.
I share here with you snapshots of stories related to the subject matter. Let’s choose truth over lies, for the truth shall set us free.
