Charlotte Osei to deliver 13th John Atta Mills Commemorative Lecture on July 22

This year’s lecture honouring the life and legacy of Ghana’s 3rd President of the 4th Republic, Professor John Evans Atta Mills, will be delivered by former Chairperson of the Electoral Commission, Charlotte Osei.
The lecture, which is premised on the theme, ‘Atta Mills: A Case Study For The Fourth Republic’, will come off at the University of Professional Studies Accra’s (UPSA) Ohene Kofi Konadu Auditorium on 22nd July, 2025.
The scheduled date is two days before the thirteenth year since the sitting president passed away in 2012.
The J.E.A. Mills Memorial Heritage, under whose auspices the event is held, has announced that the Chief of Staff at the Jubilee House, Julius Debrah, will grace the lecture as the chair.
It remains unclear if President John Mahama will attend the event, the first of its kind since he returned to office in January.
Since President Mills passed on, memorial lectures have been held to honour his contributions to Ghana’s story in both capacities as an academic and as president.
Last year, the Managing Editor of The Insight newspaper, Kwesi Pratt Jnr. delivered the lecture.
Other previous guest speakers include former Local Government Minister, Professor Kwamena Ahwoi; former Education Minister, Yaw Osafo Marfo, former United Nations Envoy to West Africa and the Sahel Region, Dr. Mohammed Ibn Chambas; former Governor of Ekiti State, Nigeria, Dr Kayode Fayemi, just to name a few.
